Caddie (n) - a person who carries a golfer's clubs and provides other assistance during a match.

Wondering if you should take a caddie on your next golf vacation? In a word, YES! you should take a caddie, especially when....
1. .....you are on a bucket list golf vacation playing world class golf courses with fantastic caddie programs such as Bandon Dunes
or Pebble Beach
2. .....you are golfing in Scotland
or Ireland, playing a true links course for the first time in your life!
3. .....you are golfing anywhere and want a great golf experience!
A caddie provides assistance to the golfer during the match and carries the golfer's clubs. If you are playing multiple rounds or multiple courses (at a resort for instance), you will most likely have the same caddie for all rounds. Your caddie knows his/her course extremely well and can help you not only achieve a better score but also have a more relaxed and enjoyable experience.
John (pictured above with his caddie in Ireland) says “To me, one of life’s great pleasures is to walk a course without any worries, having someone knowledgeable carry my bag and give me tips and pointers about the course they see every day."

Watch coverage on the Golf Channel or NBCUniversal's streaming service, Peacock. Due to covid, the event is closed to spectators.

I visited Kingsbarns Golf Linksand the nearby Kingsbarns Distilleryin late October. I didn't get to play the course this time, but I did enjoy some tastings.
The distillery offers tastings, tours and even a gin school where you can make your own bottled gin, flavored as you like, to take home. The tour was interesting, rich in history and quite entertaining. I did the shorter tour, about 30 minutes.
The highlight of this visit however was hearing from David Malcolm at Kingsbarns Golf Links. I highly recommend his 15-20 minute talk! David is extremely knowledgeable and a fantastic presenter of history. Among other things, he explained the history of medals and the Claret Jug. If you're interested, let us know and we will pre-arrange some time with David for you and your party.

Did you know that the Old Course St Andrews is closed on Sundays to golf but open to the public to walk and enjoy? It's true and it's brilliant.
I arrived in St Andrews on Sunday, October 28, 2018. Here is a photo from that afternoon, taken by my new Swedish friend, Sanna. What a perfect Fall day, crisp with no wind or rain! With weather like that, it was a little hard to believe I was in Scotland....except for the fact that I was walking on the 18th fairway of the Home of Golf.
